Germany’s research platform embraces AI

Date: 26th March 2019

The contest of AI uptake in science is starting to heat up, and with Stanford University announcing the launch of The Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) in March, an institute in Germany has taken similar steps.

A new AI unit, the Helmholtz Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Unit (HAICU) now aims to be an interdisciplinary, international hub applying AI-based analytics to their unique research questions and data sets.  The unit will develop, model and implement novel AI strategies and explore their cross-disciplinary use.  For now, being based in Munich, it is hope this will the first of several departments dedicated to the application of AI.
