The contest of AI uptake in science is starting to heat up, and with Stanford University announcing the launch of The Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) in March, an institute in Germany has taken similar steps.
A new AI unit, the Helmholtz Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Unit (HAICU) now aims to be an interdisciplinary, international hub applying AI-based analytics to their unique research questions and data sets. The unit will develop, model and implement novel AI strategies and explore their cross-disciplinary use. For now, being based in Munich, it is hope this will the first of several departments dedicated to the application of AI.
